Dr. Christine Edwards has realized a culmination of a dream by providing a caring and sensitive environment for pregnant women in a very special way.
Dr. Edwards believes in doing things the best way possible and states-”I learn as much from my patients as they learn from me. Patients know their bodies best and we do them a great service by simply listening and involving them in their care.”
Graduating Valedictorian of her high school class, Dr. Edwards went to college at Barnard College of Columbia University. She was offered the opportunity to do research upon graduation for a year at Columbia University’s Medical Center.
Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York was the next stop, where she discovered her love and passion for the healthcare of women.
She completed her residency at St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital in New York City and practiced general obstetrics and gynecology at Cornell Medical Center for two years before realizing that she particularly enjoyed helping women with complications have a successful and healthy pregnancy.
She went back to train in a Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship at Albert Einstein School of Medicine, while maintaining a private practice (it was difficult to leave her patients behind!).
Once her Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship was complete Dr. Edwards practiced in Baltimore, MD as Assistant Director and Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Sinai Hospital and St Agnes Hospital, respectively.
She has enjoyed teaching medical students and was an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University and at the University of Maryland Medical School.
Over the past eleven years, Dr. Edwards is proud to call sunny South Florida home and the home of her practice, Florida Perinatal Center where Dr. Laura Laffineuse and Dr. Jose Hernandez have subsequently joined her.
Dr. Edwards speaks English and is conversant in Spanish. She lives with her husband and has two children in high school.
She enjoys reading and is passionate about photography. In fact many of the photos on this site are courtesy of her creativity.
Dr. Edwards is committed to the successful outcome of your pregnancy and looks forward to seeing you in the office.
The practice is committed to the healthcare of all women and recently donated an Ultrasound machine to the Spanish Town Hospital in Jamaica, where they have been practicing obstetrics and caring for women without the use of an Ultrasound Scanner Machine (USS) which they could not afford.
